Initially the Minecraft survival mode was called "survival test," since it simply would have been a test of latest features. Let a Creeper sneak in a hug or accidentally swan dive into lava and are greeted with all the Game Over screen and random gibberish being a score. In Survival Test it actually did provide you with a mcpebox.com/mountain-house-blacksmith-swimming-pool/ score depending on how many enemies you killed before you decide to died. All of the current enemies (without the presence of new ones within the Nether; a Hellish location full of giant screaming ghosts and decaying zombie pig men) were in Survival Test and have thus been carried over into the current Minecraft survival mode.
Minecraft permits you to make torches. Make them! Creepers are only able to spawn in dark areas, whether it's caused by nightfall, under a large tree, or in a property this is not well lit. If a Creeper happens to show up in the house, your base is getting leveled. Space the torches about 5 or 6 squares apart to stop monsters from appearing within your torchlight. Continue placing torches until anywhere near your house, inside and out, is bright enough to keep monsters away in the evening. Remember: Monsters do not spawn in bright areas, nevertheless they can still walk through them. If you only leave one dark enough space on the base, they are going to keep appearing there until you add another torch, or leave the area.
